Workshop on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Earth Observation

On 19-20 November, the European Commission will host a workshop on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Earth Observation (EO).

The two-day workshop will present nine research projects on big data and artificial intelligence for Copernicus and Earth Observation, funded under the Horizon 2020 Space Programme.

It will present the results of the five projects selected under the topic ‘EO-2-2017: EO Big Data Shift’, which are due to end soon.

The workshop will also introduce three new projects selected under the topic ‘DT-SPACE-25-EO-2020: Big data technologies and Artificial Intelligence for Copernicus’. Additionally, there will be one project selected under the topic ‘LC-SPACE-18-EO-2020 Copernicus evolution: Research activities in support of the evolution of the Copernicus services’ subtopic ‘Copernicus Land Monitoring Service’.

The workshop will provide the chance to learn about innovative EO solutions that the projects have developed: the BETTER Data Pipelines, the CANDELA platform, the EOPEN platform, OpenEO’s API, and PerceptiveSentinel's EO-LEARN Python library. It will also be an opportunity to gain an insight into what the new projects hope to achieve: CALLISTO’s highly interoperable Big Data platform, the DeepCube Platform for analytics and AI, GEM’s AI-enhanced EO-LEARN framework and RapidAI4EO’s improved AI processes and training datasets for land monitoring applications.

Registration is not essential but advised: register here and see below the full agenda and links to the live broadcast for both days.
