Centre Européen de Recherche et de Formation Avancée en Calcul Scientifique
Institution
The Centre Européen de Recherche et de Formation Avancée en Calcul Scientifique (CERFACS), established in 1987 in Toulouse France, is currently one of the world's leading research institutes working on efficient algorithms for solving large-scale scientific problems. The CERFACS hosts interdisciplinary researchers such as physicists, applied mathematicians, numerical analysts, software engineers who design and develop innovative methods and software solutions to meet the needs of the aeronautics, space, climate, energy and environmental fields. The CERFACS Climate Modelling and Global Change team conduct basic scientific research and high-level technical developments in the field of climate studies.
Research expertise
The CERFACS is a thematic member of the EUDAT CDI and is participating in several European and international infrastructure projects. It has expertise in scientific research user requirements with respect to data access, having extensive experience in developing and providing tailored tools and methods. It also has strong expertise on user interface and on-demand data processing, as well as metadata schemes and standards needed to support automated data processing.
Role in PHIDIAS
The CERFACS will provide expertise on the design of the Common Metadata Repository and the Common Information Model. It will also work on the design of the processing service, including its web interface, which is an important component of PHIDIAS. In addition, it will contribute to the design of the portal regarding interoperability aspects, ergonomics, search and discovery interfaces, as well as help and guidance for users.
